Cole Webley began his filmmaking career in Europe catapulting directly from film school to award winning director and cinematographer.
A veteran writer-director at 29, his experiences resulted in a variety of impressive features, music videos and commercials, including several story-driven ads for brands such as Kodak, Volkswagen, Adidas, ESPN and Major League Soccer.
In 2010, Cole’s visceral Sky TV spot “West Bank” thrust viewers into the heart of a war zone, earning the young director a Merit at The One Show and a bronze at the Art Directors Club. The spot was also shortlisted at both Cannes and the AICP, and Shots Magazine featured Cole in their New Directors Showcase.
Cole recently wrote and directed a short film, Birdland staring Josh McGuire. The dark and thought-provoking film had its premiere at The Athens International Film & Video Festival in April and is currently on the festival circuit. The script was inspired by a murder that took place in his rural Washington hometown, shaking the tight-knit community to its core.
Cole also just completed another passion project, a short film told in the style of a visual poem. “For Those Lost, Just Not Forgotten”, received much media attention including being a Vimeo Staff Pick and it was featured on both Creativity and Fast Company.
Cole Webley splits his time between Los Angeles and his home in Salt Lake City and is represented by Sanctuary Content in the United States and by Holiday Films for Canada.
