Jesse Senko started directing as a kid with his neighbour’s full-size VHS camcorder on his shoulder and two VCRs strung together to edit. “The family premieres were judged on one criteria – how much my parents laughed”.
He went on to become an award-winning art director at several agencies including TAXI and Y&R before jumping into commercial photography. Not long after, he circled back to where he started – filmmaking. “I love stories with interesting, quirky people, and real truths. Exploring the character and honesty of real people in docu-style work, or really building a character of my own working in scripted work is what gets me the most excited.”
Jesse’s agency background creates an quick understanding of strategy and an easy shorthand with creative teams so everyone can get right to work focusing on the ideas. Jesse thrives on the back and forth collaboration with agency and clients.
His work has been recognized by Applied Arts Magazine, The One Show, D&AD, and the Advertising & Design Club of Canada. Jesse has created commercials, online videos, and stills for top brands including Pepsi, RBC, Ford, Air Canada, Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws, and Interac.
