A wry sense of humour and a tireless focus on honing his craft has fueled Steven Tsuchida’s busy directing career. His passion for character driven stories, insightful comedy and whip-smart dialogue is exemplified by his long list of commercials for top brands and his episodic TV work.
After spending five years in New York City as an advertising agency Art Director at Deutsch, JWT, McCann Erickson and FCB, he left to pursue his first love: directing film. He’s since directed commercials for Crown Royal, Fallsview Casino, Hyundai, Taco Bell, Sprite, PGA, Southwest Airlines, CBS Sports, ABC Sports, Toyota, ESPN, and many more – earning accolades from Cannes, The Clio Awards and The Addys. He also earned a place on Filmmaker Magazine’s annual 25 Filmmakers To Watch List. Steven’s television directing credits include Inside Amy Schumer, The New Girl and Community.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Steven left his childhood home for the call of a higher education at California State Long Beach and the Art Center of Pasadena. He graduated with a BFA in advertising and an MFA in film from Art Center, Pasadena. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, son and daughter.
